I guess my job finally decided it’d be cool to give me some hours, actually more hours than I requested, but whatever. Consequentially I haven’t been able to update the site with some new photos for a little while, so here’s 4 sets, two of which have been sitting on the back burner.

Hippie Party

Photos!

This seems so long ago now I’m not even sure what to write,  so just check out the pictures!

Sand Volleyball

Check ‘em out!

I went up to the Deuce the other night to see some friends play Volleyball and take some pictures. Not too many keepers, I chose not to shoot with a flash, so a lot of pictures were just too blurry to be even entertaining.

Karaoke

Peep the pictures!

There was a contest and we cheered Pooneh onto a victory. Good times for all.

Take Control - Tides

So I have been meaning to review this for a while, but I am pretty lazy when it comes to writing reviews… So this 7″ rules. Duh. If it didn’t why would I bother writing about it? It seems most of Doyle’s lyrics revolve around growing up, looking back on the past, where they’re from (Iowa), and moving on. It’s pretty straight forward, in your face, and totally sweet and awesome. It is definitely a far cry from their older stuff. Aside from the 6 tracks of ear shredding awesome tunes, these dudes put on a show that isn’t touched by many. I am by no means a fan of bands that stand around and just the singer gets into it… Fuck no, I mean honestly I think I’ve seen Zach (drummer) jumping around. First time I saw these guys I was like, “yep, this shit is legit… Legit tunes, legit show, what could possibly go wrong?” Then I met them, Take Control isn’t just rad tunes and a legit live show, Take Control is the real fucking deal, they’re all real dudes, and are instant bro-status. Anyway this whole record is up beat and in your face until the final track, Tides. On Tides these dudes slow it down and show that they are capable of putting more into their music without being typecasted into just one style. God I love this album, and these dudes. If you have been sleeping, wake up, because with their talent and their work ethic towards their band, these dudes are going to be the next big band in hardcore, and I’m going to be sitting back telling all you band wagon mofos, “I told you so!”

Camping

I went camping with my GF and some friends this weekend. Unfortunately it rained most the time, and we went floating, so I didn’t break the camera out too much. I did get my first chance at attempting to photograph lightning… Well check out the photos.

Check out the small album!

Ok, so I know it’s a little early, but I’m going to be out of town this weekend and I figured I would do this now since I already have a song in mind.

Song of the week is none other than Trapped Under Ice’s Soul Vice off of their demo 7″. This was the first song that got me into this band. In what seems like no time at all these Baltimore locals have gone from being the hometown heros to a non-stop touring force to be reckoned with. In fact as I write this they are in fucking Europe, shredding the skin off of euro kids ears with their epic tunes. They recently put a new track up on their myspace for a little taste of whats to come on their soon to be released split with London’s Dirty Money. Once again I muttered something along the lines of “holy shit,” and then started to chair mosh my office into an oblivion. Keep an eye on these guys, because only bigger and better things can be expected from them.

+ Have Heart
+ Verse
+ Hoods
+ Give Em Hell
+ Good Intentions
+ Get Serious

What an amazing show. So many good bands in such an interesting venue. It was a small outdoor stage covered by various canopies to protect it from the ever prevalent possibility of a mid-west thunder storm. Kids went off, and the place had maximum stage dive potential. Give Em Hell, Hoods, Verse, and Have Heart all killed it as the kids went nuts. PERFECT SUMMER SHOW.

No pics of Get Serious (hard to take pics of your own band).

So I decided I’m going to put a new song on my site and do a little write up on the artrist/group/band each week.

This week it’s the song Bassment Party by The Cool Kids. My boy Gabe from Fare Thee Well introduced me to these doods, and I have been hooked since. They’re a hip hop duo from Chicago IL. They seem to be influenced by a lot of current hipster styles and trends, and are actually self proclaimed trend setters. Their beats are fairly simple, but at the same time really unique. I can honestly say I would bump their entire EP, The Bake Sale, through a party and have a good time. Their music reminds me a lot of 80’s hip hop, so you know it’s fun. Check these doods out on myspace, and they are currently touring all over it looks like, so scope them out if they come near you.

+Fare Thee Well
+King
+Hangouts and Bangouts

Well Blood In Blood Out was supposed to headline this, but they didn’t show up. No one is really sure what happened to them, but I hope everything is alright on their end. So just Fare Thee Well and King played, but it was a pretty fun time regardless.

Bitchin’ BBQ

I showed up a little late to my friend’s BBQ/Kegger. It wasn’t a massive party, but it was just the right amount of awesome people to make for a good time. Here’s some shots.

Check ‘em out!

Erin’s last night.

Last night was Erin’s last night in town. I would go into great detail about the night, but honestly the pictures tell it better.

CHECK OUT THE HUGE ALBUM!

Sorry for the complete lack of updates… My computer has a dying CPU fan and I haven’t replaced it yet, so I’m doing all my photo editing on an old laptop I pretty much just use for photo storage when on the road. Here’s some photo sets.

+ Decades
+ Fare Thee Well
+ Get Serious

For starters I would like to say that if you slept on this show you are an idiot. Not because my band played (p.s. thanks to Jawn Hankley for taking the photos), not because Fare Thee Well killed it as usual, but because you missed out on one of the best live performances I have seen in a while. Not only was Decades amazing to see, they were all amazing doods, and are instant bros-4-life. With that being said, the shitty turn out was a major bum out. Guess what happens when all you little punks don’t turn out? Bands don’t get paid, what happens when bands don’t get paid? People don’t want to play here, and what happens when people don’t want to play here? People stop booking shows, and what happens when shows aren’t happening here? All you whiny little bastards start complaining that nothing is going on here. Guess what? You have the power, it’s called scrounging up $5 and coming to shows. There were two hardcore/metal shows this weekend at Eastside and both had horrible turnouts. Dan started mumbling something about canceling Kids Like Us because no one can be certain if you guys will turn out or not. I for one am more pissed about the fact that kids for days and weeks on end will be talking about going to a show, and then we don’t see you there, and two days later bump into you only to find out “Oh I didn’t have $5″ or “I’d rather go to a kegger that night.” Now granted, Kids Like Us is still on, but if you all keep acting like you’re going to be spoiled with shows forever, you are gravely mistaken. This isn’t a major city with a huge fucking scene, every single one of you counts… I was sort of bummed on the crappy turn out Saturday night as well, but not as bummed because none of us had anything to do with booking that show. Also speaking for only myself (AKA NOT THE REST OF MY BAND), I personally though Cowboys Vs Indians and The Midway were a bunch of disrespectful ass holes. I stood around and watched their sets, we even borrowed their drums, but we got onto play and they all made like Jimmy Hoffa and disappeared. I make it a personal point to stick around and at least check out every band on a bill, at least for the first half of their sets. It’s a matter of respect, and quite frankly I felt the rock star attitude from them. No thank you, probably won’t waste my time with those bands ever again.

Anyway, earlier in the week I went with Dan and Randie to the dog park with their little dog Abner. I shot a bunch of photos.

In other news, MyMissourian.com is featuring a series of my photos on their site (The Pooneh/Sara T photos in the garage). They are also putting one in The Missourian newspaper and featuring a little bio on me. Way stoked about that, so go check it out!
