Last night Saints Never Surrender, Hundredth, Sergio Slayer, and Fare Thee Well all performed at Sapphire Lounge here in Columbia, MO. This was Saints first time in Columbia, and the second time around in just a few weeks for Hundredth. Both bands played amazing sets and got kids moving around. Fare Thee Well opened up with a new jam which was so sick. I over heard some people saying that they hope it’s a sign of things to come out of the FTW camp. Furthermore last night was a breath of fresh air when the hardcore stopped for a moment and gave way to Sergio Slayer, a local hip hop artist. Although he was def a far cry from a hardcore band, he fit right in no problem with the other bands performing due to his enthusiasm and energy.

Following the trend from Scouts show earlier in the week I strobbed this show as well with a Nikon SB800 and a Nikon SB600 both triggered with CLS. (For all my fellow camera nerds)

I put together a little slide show from the show last night of a few of my favorite photos, BUT UNDER THE SLIDE SHOW ARE LINKS TO INDIVIDUAL SETS FOR EACH BAND. (I put this in caps and underlined it because all too often someone complains to me about not being able to save photos from the slide shows I’ve been doing recently even though I always put links to the sets below them. Go figure.) There are many more photos in the individual sets, I just picked a few for the slide show.

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day out I had to shoot some photos. I wanted to shoot something a little more action packed than portraits so I called up my boy Kellen to see if he was out skating (rollerblading) and he sure as hell was. So I met up with him and his boy Ryan at the park and shot a couple keepers. Check out the photos below in the slide show or CLICK THE LINK BELOW to go to the album.

Well first and foremost, my mom, aka Mavis, got her first tattoo the other day from my boy Gabe. She handled getting tattooed way better than I do haha. Go mom! I put the pics in my “Randoms ’09″ album on flickr. You can check them out below or click the link under the photos to go to the Randoms ’09 album and see all the photos in the set.

Last night I shot some photos of my friends in Scouts, they played at The Blue Note here in Columbia. My friend Justin Scott was there. Justin also shoots Nikon and we used both our strobes with CLS to strobe the show. The shots came out pretty cool, I just wish I would have had a little more room between the barrier and the stage. Check out the slide show below and/or click the link BELOW THE SLIDE SHOW to go to the album and see the images.

Friday I traveled with Scouts to Warrensburg for their show, Chris’ bday, and to see some other friends I have there. All in all it was a great time, and both Scouts and We Are Voices played phenomenal sets. Hit the links below for the albums on my flickr.

Today I had two shoots. First up was my friend Anna, she needed some head shots and full body shots for some resume BS… I didn’t ask too many questions, I just had fun with it as always. We went down to Shelter Gardens and shot a few quickies in the awesome 27 degree weather haha. Slideshow and link to the flickr set are below.

After that I had a shoot with my friends in the band Nothing to Nothing. This shoot was at my request as they personally think that promo pics are kind of lame, and at the same time I can understand where they were coming from. All too often bands get promo pics shot that depict them as some total hard ass’ from the streets, which 99% of them are not. I decided we would just make pancakes and shoot some photos of them acting ridiculous. No one can honestly take dudes, holding kitchen utensils trying to look hard, seriously. I was really pleased with the turn out of the shots, and I think anyone who sees them will understand that Nothing To Nothing are just some fun kids. The need for this shoot stemmed from an article being written about me in our local arts and entertainment magazine produced by the University journalism students that comes out weekly. I was interviewed yesterday and they needed photos of me shooting photos. I asked NTN to help me out, and they agreed after a long drawn out “ugggghhhhhh, this is everything I’m against…” from Dan hahaha. Slideshow and link to the album below.

For the last year or so I have been shooting really high saturation and contrast, it had massive appeal to me, but recently I’ve been finding myself shooting a more neutral pallette… Not under saturated/low contrast, but not heavily over done either… Just trying to be more diverse with my photography, because I never want to be one to pigeon hole myself…

I’ll leave you with this photo I shot the other night of my boy Caleb that I’m stoked on… I’m mildly obsessed with this 50mm f1.8 right now.

Oh and this one of my friends Ryan and Joey from an after bars the other night. It sums these cousins up pretty well when they get together, a lot of booze and just a total carefree goofy attitude.

So my good friend Billy swung by today to grab some music from me and brought his new 7 week old puppy along. His name is Nash and he’s 50% pitbull, 50% boxer, 100% bad ass. We played with him in the backyard for a little bit and I even threw my dog into the mix (a 3 year old mut), and she was actually intimidated by the little dude. After a bit of hanging out here we took him to the dog park where he wasn’t taking any harassment from any dogs of any size. He would play for a little but once he was annoyed he let them know. For being all of probably 6 pounds and less than a foot tall he has some big balls (even if they haven’t dropped yet).  Check out the slideshow below and hit the link under it to view the set larger on flickr!
