So both Friday and Saturday this week I worked at the shop Noon till 8pm then I worked photo jobs both nights. Friday night I shot photos at Generic for Ashley’s surprise birthday party and then last night I shot photos at Sapphire Lounge for their retro 80′s prom night Valentines Day party. Unfortunately due to having a lot of camera equipment with me I have to keep my partying in check. Luckily I have great friends who had sweet after bars both nights. Night 1 was at Mac’s place, and night 2 I went to my boys up above El Rancho and Slackers for a “Jersey Party.” It was a ton of fun and of course during the nights activities I shot some photos… Check the slideshow below, and hit the link for the album on flickr under it.

    Surprise!!

So I was recently asked if I would shoot some photos and set up a little “photo booth” for my friend Ashley’s surprise birthday at Generic Nightclub. I of course was more than thrilled to oblige my friend Lori when she asked and had a blast doing the shoot. Ashley was def surprised and it was great to see so many people come out to show her love on her birthday. Check out the slide show below, or click the link to go to the album on flickr.

Today was such a nice day, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to hang out with a friend and shoot some photos. So I picked up my friend Caleb and we went out to some rail road tracks outside of town and had a fun little photo/chat session. Nothing too ground breaking, just felt like shooting some photos.

Camera Nerd Info: Strobed it with an SB800 and a Pentax AF540FGZ triggered with poverty wizards.

I saw my friend Justin do this on his site, so I’ll give it a shot.

Once again I went with my homeboys in Scouts to a show to work merch, take pics, and wild out… The show was at some little venue in a Church basement… Or some sort of religious rec center. I don’t really know, I never really got a full grasp on where we were haha. Check out the fav’s below, with of course a link to the full Flickr set.

(For any camera nerds reading this, I strobed the show using 1 SB800 triggered with Nikon’s CLS, and the pop-up flash on my D300 as a fill light)

So today I got to do a shoot I’ve been dying to do for quite some time now. It combined some of my favorite things; a gorgeous girl, graffiti, and a grimey grungey place… I recently met Jessica and after some very interesting and in depth conversationgs about photography, photoshop, modeling, drinking, graffiti, and all sorts of other random stuff I sprung this idea on her. I won’t lie, given Jess’ list of credentials I was a little intimidated to shoot her at all, but she was all too nice on me haha. Getting down to the location was quite the task but I think was well worth the struggle in the long run. We shot for about an hour and a half to two hours with some downtime to try and warm up (while it may have been 67 out today, down in a sewer we were seeing our breath haha), drink some trops, and shoot the stuff about music, people, photography, and all sorts of other random interesting things. I shot 100+ frames, narrowed it down in camera to 65, and then narrowed it down to 8 for this update. There are some others which are more of head shots than anything which may come later, but for now I feel these 8 shots really captured everything we were going for. Feel free to leave some feed back and let me/us know what you think.

Well yesterday was the Super Bowl. My boys up above El Rancho and Slackers threw one hell of a Super Bowl party. It easily put every other house party I’ve been to in the last few years to shame. 3 kegs, countless bottles of Champagne, cases of Red Bull, bottles upon bottles of Vodka, and copius amounts of other alcoholic beverages were laid to waste by the legions of party goers yesterday. In traditional artripoli.com style I brought the camera, and with a little brainstorming with my main man Vega, we took party photos in Columbia to a new level. We set up a little “photo booth” in one of the rooms and shot some studio style shots of everyone having too much fun on Billy’s couch. Steelers won the game, and most everyone was disappointed (a lot of people rooting for the Cardinals yesterday). After the game we floated the last keg and then headed for the bars. Normally on Sundays here in Columbia the bars close at midnight, but yesterday was a bar holiday and they stayed open till 1:30am… All in all, an amazing night, and a bunch of fun photos were taken.

As usual, I put a few of my favorites in the post, with a link to the full album below.
