Last night I took pictures of Nothing to Nothing, Fare Thee Well, Expire, Life Won’t Wait, Everything Went Black, and Landlocked at the Orr St studios. The show was a ton of fun and a lot of people came from all over for it.

This is an older pic, but one I really like of Nothing to Nothing. I’ll be taking photos tonight at their show with Fare Thee Well, Expire, Life Won’t Wait, Landlocked, and  Everything Went Black…

When I heard Take Control was calling it quits I was majorly bummed out. In the last 12 or so years of my hardcore experience I have seen many last shows, but nothing hit so close to home as seeing four of the best dudes I’ve ever met take the stage together for the last time. I don’t know if maybe it’s because I care about all these guys so much and it was so much more personal to me, or if it really was just all out madness, or a combination of the two, but I don’t think I’ve ever quite experience such an amazing last performance of any band ever. I remember when I first met these guys, instantly I hit it off with them and have been close ever since. Honestly I can say that they are some of the most genuine and sincere people I have ever met, not just in hardcore, but in my life.  From times spent at shows together to just hanging out to them giving us a place to crash when we were in town, I will always be thankful and love these guys like family. If you never got a chance to see a Take Control show I truly am sorry for you because they always played like it was the last show ever, they always gave it their all, and never failed to leave me wanting more. Ben, Doyle, Shawn, and Zach I love you all and wish you the best in all your future endeavours.

Friday my good friends from Take Control were in town to play a show. 6 bands on the bill, unfortunately I could only shoot the first four bands. Nothing to Nothing played their first show, and I must say I think everyone was really stoked. Check out their demo, it’s up in their player on their myspace. Outlive Outlast and Just Do It came to town for the show also and played just as good as they always do. Unfortunately I missed Scouts due to some work things, and I didn’t have time to shoot Fare Thee Well’s set (who also absolutely murdered it). Links to the bands are below the photo of my main man Doyle from Take Control hate stomping his way to another insane set.

So on Saturday I had the great pleasure of shooting photos of my boy Steddy P at Mojos for the True/False Film Fest party. I strobed the show like I’ve done the last few, with an SB600, and SB800, and triggered with CLS from my D300. Check the slide show below and the link to the actual set underneath the slide show.

Today I had the day off and decided to go on a “photo adventure.” I invited my friend Brooke along, and we headed off down 63. After a little brainstorming I realized today would be the perfect day to go down to the Lake of the Ozarks and check out the lake view patio where I’ll be shooting a wedding in July. I wanted to know exactly what the location was going to look like before I was surprised by anything on the big day. After that I went to check out a spot that overlooks part of the lake and I don’t think Brooke knew I intended to take photos of her, because quite honestly I find shooting photos of landscapes to be rather boring unless it’s a sunset or sunrise. She handled it like a trooper, and I was really happy with the final takes. She’s too cute, but like a typical girl, hates photos of herself. Oh well! Big shout to Brooke, the best road trip partner ever, can’t wait for next time. “Sorry I actually get jiggy with it” – Brooke. Slide show and link to the set are below as usual!

Last night Saints Never Surrender, Hundredth, Sergio Slayer, and Fare Thee Well all performed at Sapphire Lounge here in Columbia, MO. This was Saints first time in Columbia, and the second time around in just a few weeks for Hundredth. Both bands played amazing sets and got kids moving around. Fare Thee Well opened up with a new jam which was so sick. I over heard some people saying that they hope it’s a sign of things to come out of the FTW camp. Furthermore last night was a breath of fresh air when the hardcore stopped for a moment and gave way to Sergio Slayer, a local hip hop artist. Although he was def a far cry from a hardcore band, he fit right in no problem with the other bands performing due to his enthusiasm and energy.

Following the trend from Scouts show earlier in the week I strobbed this show as well with a Nikon SB800 and a Nikon SB600 both triggered with CLS. (For all my fellow camera nerds)

I put together a little slide show from the show last night of a few of my favorite photos, BUT UNDER THE SLIDE SHOW ARE LINKS TO INDIVIDUAL SETS FOR EACH BAND. (I put this in caps and underlined it because all too often someone complains to me about not being able to save photos from the slide shows I’ve been doing recently even though I always put links to the sets below them. Go figure.) There are many more photos in the individual sets, I just picked a few for the slide show.

Well first and foremost, my mom, aka Mavis, got her first tattoo the other day from my boy Gabe. She handled getting tattooed way better than I do haha. Go mom! I put the pics in my “Randoms ’09″ album on flickr. You can check them out below or click the link under the photos to go to the Randoms ’09 album and see all the photos in the set.

Last night I shot some photos of my friends in Scouts, they played at The Blue Note here in Columbia. My friend Justin Scott was there. Justin also shoots Nikon and we used both our strobes with CLS to strobe the show. The shots came out pretty cool, I just wish I would have had a little more room between the barrier and the stage. Check out the slide show below and/or click the link BELOW THE SLIDE SHOW to go to the album and see the images.
