    New D300

    Posted in: Photography

So my friend Alex and I have officially started a photography business. The website will be up and running in a few days. We ordered a bunch of new gear and it all came in yesterday, so all day yesterday I was playing with my new Nikon D300. Wow it’s sick. I shot a few hundred photos yesterday using a few different lenses and an SB-900. Last night my friends in Scouts opened up for Taking Back Sunday at the Blue Note, and after the show we all partied at Sapphire Lounge. Scouts, Taking Back Sunday, and the other band (whose name slips my memory right now) were all there dancing and partying too. Check out some of my favorite shots from yesterday below, or just go to the album and look through them all.

Joe “Mothafuckin’” Cumbee came to town today to tattoo and hang out for a day or two, and I figured what better way to have some fun between tattoos at the shop then to shoot some photos of everyone after I got off work. It’s a relatively slow week here since all the students are gone, so we just had a good time and killed some photos with the gang. Alex purchased some wireless triggers for us to fool around with today and I shot with dual flashes tonight for the first time. It was a ton of fun and a learning experience as well.

Last night I took photos of The Golden Age and Fare Thee Well, Alex Haycock did me a solid and took photos of Get Serious. Unfortunately I had to bounce before Pharos played because I had promised a friend I would go out to eat and to the bar with his dad and uncle. It also didn’t help that I forgot to charge my batteries, so I couldn’t shoot nearly as much as I would have liked. Oh well, live and learn.

It isn’t too often I find myself in photos because I normally am the one taking them, and I try my hardest to avoid being in photos normally anyway because I am incapable of smiling for a camera without looking like a downtown crack addict. Today my friend Alex Haycock post some photos on his flickr from the other day at the park when I was taking photos of Kellen Stroupe. There’s some funny ones in there.

I really am a fan of this, because while it seems I am not paying any attention at all, this shot actually turned out to be one of my favorites of the day.

    Kellen Stroupe

Here’s the shot I took. It’s kind of interesting to see myself caught up in the mix though haha.

Do I always look this miserable? Especially when doing what I love? Haha someone please clue me in next time I look like I just got beat up and told my shoes were ugly.

Another shot I was a fan of. Love that fisheye for shoots like this.

Alex really just got into the whole photography game a few months ago, but he’s already getting a hold of things real quick. Here’s a shot he took down at the lake at the end of summer I’m a big fan of.

Not sure who the rider is, but I think the rays of sun and the position he’s in are pretty cool…

Here’s another cool shot he took of his little brother Ryan, who also is a young aspiring photographer himself. Check out his flickr as well.
